Virginia Dale "Little Dale" Hinshaw

Virginia Dale “Little Dale” Hinshaw, a beloved native of Winchester, Tennessee, passed away at her home peacefully on Monday, August 11, 2025. Known for her warm heart, steady hands, and lifelong dedication to caring for others, Little Dale touched countless lives in her community.

She was a devoted mother to her children, and a proud grandmother to her cherished grandchildren. Her family was the joy of her life, and she treasured every moment spent with them.

Born on November 8, 1946, she was a 1964 graduate of Franklin County High School. Beyond her professional and family life, Little Dale was a loyal friend and a person of unwavering integrity. She enjoyed sharing stories, offering encouragement, and quietly lending a helping hand whenever it was needed.

Little Dale devoted much of her professional life to nursing, serving faithfully as a nurse. First working for Dr. James VanBlaricum, she worked for several other doctors through the years, finishing her career with Dr. James Stensby. Her compassion, skill, and gentle presence brought comfort to patients and their families for many years. She was respected by colleagues and deeply appreciated by all who were fortunate enough to be under her care.

She was known for her nurturing spirit. Dale enjoyed cooking and collecting recipes. She loved playing family card games and was very competitive in family Corn Hole tournaments. She was an avid men’s basketball fan and Coach John Calipari was one of her favorite coaches to follow as she cheered on the University of Kentucky Wildcats until his coaching transfer to Arkansas, then she became a big Razorback fan.

Dale is preceded in death by her parents, Roy H. and Virginia Hoots Smith; sister and brother-in-law, Donna Sue and Dale Gulley; aunt, Sue Kiningham; and grandson, Jude Glasscoe.

She is survived by her children, Dace Hinshaw, and Dara (Barry) Lamb; grandchildren, Demi Binkley and Drake Binkley; brother, Danny (Jane) Smith; several nieces and nephews as well as great-nieces and great-nephews; and a host of cousins.

A memorial gathering will be from 4-6pm on Thursday, August 14, 2025, at Moore-Cortner Funeral Home. A memorial service will follow at 6:00 pm in the Chapel of Moore-Cortner Funeral Home with Pastor Philip McAbee officiating.
