With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of our beloved, Linda Earwood Landers of Winchester, TN, who went home peacefully on Saturday, December 27, 2025, in her residence, surrounded by the love of her family. After a courageous battle with ALS, her body grew tired, and she found rest.
She was our constant, our comfort, and our greatest supporter. Her strength, grace, and unwavering love shaped the lives of all who knew her. Even in the face of illness, she faced each day with dignity and quiet courage, teaching us what true resilience looks like.
She cherished time with her family, gardening, floral arranging, and bird-watching and identification. She will be remembered for her sense of humor, as well as her giving and loving heart. Her legacy lives on in the countless lives she touched and the love she poured so freely into others.
Linda was preceded in death by her parents, Lloyd Earwood and Dora Webb Earwood, and her siblings, Leonard Earwood, Achey Earwood, Roger Earwood, Mavis Earwood Simon, and Dolores Earwood Morgan.
She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Phillip Landers; son, Patrick Landers Sr; daughter, Melissa (Missy) Landers James; five grandchildren: Erica James-Hernandez, Patrick Landers II, Peyton Landers, Megan Landers, and Phillip James; and four great-grandchildren, with a fifth on the way, who will forever carry her love in their hearts.
The family extends heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Jessica Stensby and her staff, Ashley Stinnet, Amedisys Hospice, the Crestwood ALS Care Clinic of Huntsville, Leslie Creasman, Dr. Lynn Williams, Mary Smotherman, Janice Roberts, Jordan and Ginger Ennis, Senior Pastor Dr. Micheal Clark of Winchester Cumberland Presbyterian Church, and the community of The Webb School for their compassion and support during her journey.
A celebration of her life will be held at a later date in Asheville, N.C.
Though we grieve her loss deeply, we are comforted knowing she is now at peace.
