Emma “Christine” Wilhoite was born on August 14,1928, in Coffee County, Tennessee to the late John Wesley Shelton and Edith Jane Brown Shelton, and she went to be with her Lord on December 31, 2025. She was preceded in death by her parents, by her brothers, John Wesley Shelton, Jr. and Jesse Shelton, and by her sisters, Ethel Shelton Vickers and Mary Ruth Shelton Walls. She is survived by her two sons, Jerry Wilhoite (Melissa) and Charles Wilhoite (Cathy), by her granddaughters, Christina Grace Wilhoite and Jennifer Michelle Wilhoite Brazell (Tyler), and two great grandchildren, Cayden Blaze Felver and Nikola Gattis. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews. Christine worked various jobs before her marriage to Robert on November 1, 1953, and after their marriage, she worked at Lay’s 5&10, Grant’s #2 Supermarket (with Robert and her sons), The Gingham Inn Restaurant (with her friend, Trula Fulkerson), the Dollar Store, and Hammer’s Department Store on the square in Winchester from which she retired at age 82. She loved spending time with her family and friends, and she always thought of others before herself. She was a great encourager, and she chose to see the best in others. Christine was baptized into Christ in the late 1980’s, and she was a member of the Winchester Church of Christ for over 35 years. She was loved by many, and she will be missed by all who knew her. The Wilhoite family is grateful for the care of their loved one by the medical staff of Ascension St. Thomas -Rutherford Hospital and Alive Hospice of Murfreesboro, Tennessee. Visitation will be held on Monday, January 5, 2026, at Moore-Cortner Funeral Home from 11:00 AM until 1:00 PM. Funeral service will follow in the chapel of Moore-Cortner Funeral Home.
