Linda Ann Rigsby Shockley, age 77 of Huntland, passed away on Wednesday, October 29, 2025, at Huntsville Hospital. Mrs. Shockley was born in Lincoln County on March 5, 1948, to the late William Gaither and Ruby Louise (Tipton) Rigsby. Before her retirement, Linda had been employed as an Administrative Assistant in the Radar Project Office of the U.S. Army Space and Missile Defense Command. She was a devoted caretaker of her husband, and a beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was cherished in the community for her kindness, compassion, and ever-present sense of humor. She was well known for her musical gifts— she took piano lessons at a young age, then heard “Last Dance” by Floyd Cramer, and knew she could play it. And she did. And she never stopped playing songs by ear, and singing with her beautiful, astonishing voice. She performed for weddings, for funerals, with gospel groups and at celebrations and church solos and official work events and at home when she thought no one was listening. She was the pianist for Huntland First Baptist Church for the past forty years. She knew by heart Southern Gospel standards, bluegrass hymns, country classics, and the Great American Songbook. She dazzled in any genre. She loved Vestal Goodman, the Lawrence Welk Show, and her favorite Beatle was George. She was also an avid reader and enjoyed any book set in a picturesque pre-war British village. She was a devoted Christian, a longtime member of Huntland First Baptist Church, and embraced Jesus’s message of empathy, forgiveness, acceptance, and love. In addition to her parents, Linda was preceded in death by her siblings, Randall Owens and Kay Stone; son, Donald Shockley; and nieces Kaylon Owens Luttrell and Janice Stone. She is survived by her loving husband of fifty-five years, Billy Shockley; sons, Matthew Shockley, Jonathan Shockley (Michele Yu), and Ronald (Becky) Shockley; grandchildren Amy (Doug) Parkinson and Amber Shockley; great-grandchildren, Oliver Parkinson, Eli Parkinson, and Isaac Parkinson; nieces and nephews, Karen (Terry) Moore, Kristie (Jimmy) Brannon, Sherry (Scott) Lucas, and Kim (Murrel) Donaldson; and may great-nieces and great-nephews. Visitation will be from 12:30-2:00pm on Sunday, November 2, 2025, at Huntland First Baptist Church with funeral service following at 2:00pm, with Rev. Joe Plunkett officiating. Interment will be at Maxwell Baptist Church Cemetery. Moore-Cortner Funeral Home, 300 First Ave NW, Winchester, TN 37398, (931)-967-2222, www.moorecortner.com.
