Jimmy Ray Turner, age 78 of Estill Springs, passed away on Wednesday, December 17, 2025, at his residence. A native of Franklin County, he was born in Winchester on September 26, 1947, to the late James Daniel and Ray Belle (Limbaugh) Turner. A proud veteran of the United States Marines, Jimmy earned the rank of Sergeant during his tenure. During his time in the military, he was presented the National Defense Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Purple Heart, Vietnam Cross of Gallantry, Good Conduct Medal, and the Sharpshooter Rifle Badge. He then continued his professional career, serving his beloved state as a Tennessee State Trooper, retiring after thirty years. An avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed gardening, fishing, and squirrel, rabbit, and deer (although he killed such a good one the first time, he didn’t need to hunt them anymore) hunting. He could often be found tending to his animals (goats, chickens, rabbits, peacocks, and quail to name a few) on his mini farm. When he was able, Jimmy also enjoyed traveling, whether it was to Gatlinburg, out West, or Hawaii, it was always an adventure. A loving and generous man, he showed his love by doing for others, especially his beloved family. Jimmy was a devoted member of Cross Roads Baptist Church in Estill Springs. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Janice Dixon. Jimmy is survived by his loving wife of fifty-three years, Beverly Turner; children, James C. Turner, and Melany (Tracy) Seals; grandchildren, Kayla (Alex) Holder, Gage (Amanda) Seals, Colt (Jodee) Seals, and C.J. Seals; great-grandchild, Cyrus Seals; brother, Ronnie Turner; sister, Beth (Craig) Barnes; several nieces and nephews; and four-legged best friends, Blu. Visitation will be from 11am-1pm on Saturday, December 20, 2025, at Moore-Cortner Funeral Home. Funeral Services will follow at 1:00 pm in the Chapel of Moore-Cortner Funeral Home with Bro.
