Lincoln County Jury Returns Verdict of Guilty




Robtavious Hawk from Fayetteville was found guilty of first-degree murder in connection to the 2022 shooting that killed 17-year-old JaMicheal Harris. The shooting happened on February 13, 2022, in Fayetteville.

At the time, Hawk was 26. He was also charged with two counts of aggravated assault involving two other people who were in the vehicle with Harris, along with two counts of being a felon in possession of a firearm.

According to District Attorney Robert Carter of the 17th Judicial District, the jury trial wrapped up around 5:50 p.m. on April 9th. The 12-member jury deliberated for about four hours. Judge Forest Durard Jr. presided over the trial.

Both the prosecution and Hawk’s defense attorneys gave their closing arguments that morning.

In addition to the murder charge, Hawk was convicted of one count of aggravated assault involving a female juvenile passenger, one count of reckless aggravated assault involving another passenger, Jamari Battle, and two counts of unlawful firearm possession.

Under Tennessee law, a first-degree murder conviction carries a mandatory 60-year life sentence.

Hawk is scheduled to be sentenced on June 3.
