Judy Ann Johnson

Judy Ann Johnson, age 82 of Sewanee, passed away on Wednesday, October 15, 2025, at her residence surrounded by her loving family. A native of Franklin County, she was born in Sewanee on March 11, 1943, to the late Charlie William and Gladys Mae (Rousey) Johnson. Judy Ann was a 1961 graduate of Franklin County High School. After graduation, she attended dental school in Chattanooga. Until the time of her retirement, she was employed at Shaw Carpet Mill. When she was able, she liked to work in her yard. She enjoyed wood carving and burning designs on wood and even tried to work on small engines. Judy Ann loved spending time with friends and her classmates. A lover of animals, her favorite times were spent with her four-legged best friend, Blackie, but she also loved all animals, whether they were stray or her own. Judy Ann was a dedicated member of Midway Baptist Church. Her faith was an important part of her life and community, living her life according to the 23rd Psalm, which was her favorite. She will be remembered by family and friends for her playful spirit and great sense of humor. In addition to her parents, Judy Ann was preceded in death by her siblings, Joe Johnson, Jackie Johnson, Charles W. Johnson, Ruby Mae Johnson, Buddy Johnson, and Johnny Johnson. She is survived by her loving children, Tammy (James) Vaughan and Troy (Holly) Hood; grandchildren, Brandon Hood, Darby (Jake) Clark, Michael Vaughan, and Eva Vaughan; great-grandchildren, Rowan Clark and Ruby Ann Clark; brother, Jimmy Johnson; sister, Betty Johnson; and many nieces, nephews, and friends in the Sewanee Community. Visitation will be from 5-8pm on Friday, October 17, 2025, at Moore-Cortner Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, October 18, 2025, in the Chapel of Moore-Cortner Funeral Home with Bro. Michael Johnson officiating.
