Harold Gene Black

Harold Gene Black Sr., age 99 of Winchester, passed away on October 25, 2025, at his residence. Harold was born in Sherwood, on June 9, 1926, to the late John Franklin Black and Denny Mae Temples. He worked many years and later retired from the railroad. In his spare time, Harold enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping, and then more fishing! He always enjoyed his time spent on the creek bank and riverbank. Harold will always be remembered for his persistence, if he set his mind to it, there was no convincing him otherwise. Harold was a member of the of the St. Agnes Episcopal Church and a past president of the Cowan Lions Club. In addition to his parents, Harold is preceded in death by his wife, Kathleen Black; sisters, Polly, Marcell, Annabell; brothers, John, Billy, Bobby, Jinks; and daughter-in-law, Brenda Black. Harold is survived by his children, Harold Gene Black Jr., Alice Marie Black; grandchildren, Harold Gene (Connie) Black III, Robert Elvin Black, Brian David Black; great grandchildren, Melia Black, Elvin (Erica) Black; great-great grandchildren, Delane Lea Black, Issac Black; and many nieces and nephews. A visitation will be held on Friday, October 31, 2025, from 11am-1pm at Moore-Cortner Funeral Home. Funeral Service will follow at 1pm at Moore-Cortner Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Mt.
