A native of Franklin County, she was born in Winchester on April 3, 1937, to the late Jesse Thomas and Eva Lena (Brandon) Farris. After college, Elaine married the love of her life, Jack Stumpf, and moved to Evenston, Illinois, where she worked as a nutritionist for the school system. After retirement, she and Jack moved back to her beloved Franklin County. In her leisure time, she enjoyed crocheting, playing Bridge, and a good day fishing. Her larger-than-life personality, along with a touch of feistiness, will be missed by all who knew her…Elaine truly never met a stranger. She was a devoted member of Harris Chapel U.M.C. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Jack Stumpf; children, Matthew Stumpf, and Lynn Stumpf; sisters, Norma Stevens, and June Sells; and brother, Herman Farris.
