David Eugene Leggitt Sr, age 68 of Estill Springs, passed away on Monday, October 6, 2025, at Vanderbilt Tullahoma Harton surrounded by his loving family. He was born on July 6, 1957, in Gary, Indiana to the late Isabell Rankin and David H. Leggitt. David served his country in the United States Army and was a proud veteran. He retired from STS Inc, a division of Bell South. During his working career, he worked as a boilermaker at the United State Mill where he had worked alongside his father, as a mechanic in Indiana in Manchester, and as a firefighter in Burns Harbor and Estill Springs. In his spare time, you could find him working with his hands fixing cars or wood working. He also enjoyed being on his boat fishing, and playing pool, board games, or Minecraft. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his stepmom, Nancy C. Leggitt; stepfather, Robert Rankin; daughter, Tonia Renee Leggitt Brundage; sisters, Julie L. Haroon and Linda Sue Leggitt; brother, Daniel E. Leggitt; and grandparents, Hershel and Opal Leggitt and John and Helen Hepworth. David is survived by his loving wife, Donna Cook Leggitt; children, David (Miranda) Leggitt Jr, and Peggy (Toby) Reynolds; grandchildren, Steven Leggitt, Darla Leggitt, Laci Leggitt, Nova Leggitt, Ranesmae Reynolds, Alanna Leggitt, Kamyiah Leggitt, Tarence Leggitt, Army PVT Robert Leggitt, and granddaughter on the way, Emma Lucille Leggitt; great-grandchildren, Anna Leggitt, Jaxin Leggitt, Evelyn Brewer, and Jonah Willis; sister, Sharon J. Petterson (Jerry Rankin); brothers-in-law, Willard (Eileen) Cook Jr and Eddie Travis (Candy) Cook; bonus grandson and family that blessed him greatly, Jacob Meaker and the Oakes Family; four-legged best friend, Sweetie; and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins. Visitation will be held from 5-8 pm on Thursday, October 9, 2025, at Moore-Cortner Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held at 3:00 pm on Friday, October 10, 2025, in the Chapel of Moore-Cortner Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Franklin Memorial Gardens.
