Cheryl Jacqueline Hayes

Cheryl Smith Hayes of Belvidere died October 1, 2025, following a brief illness. She was born on February 1, 1950, in Jacksonville, Florida to the late A.D. Smith, Jr. and Johnnie Cox Smith. A graduate of Englewood High School, Cheryl worked in the residential construction industry for a number of years and most enjoyed her role as homemaker. She was married to the late Steve Hayes and is survived by her son Jason Chachos, also of Belvidere. Also surviving are her sister and brother-in-law, Judy and Tom Thibadeau, as well as many nieces and nephews and members of the Cox family in Huntland. Cheryl loved the outdoors, all animals, and sharing family stories. A celebration of Cheryl’s life will be held on Saturday, October 25th

at 12:00 pm at 1244 Buncombe Road in Belvidere.
