Nannie, Annie Catherine Gray, age 89, passed away peacefully Wednesday July 9, 2025, surrounded by family after a life filled with love, service, and joy. A proud daughter of Huntland, Tennessee; she was born on June 26, 1936, to James Madison

Nannie was a devoted wife to her beloved husband, Bobby Gray, a dedicated Navy man, whose service took them across the world. Together they built a life rich in adventure and purpose, living in Japan, Hawaii, Cubi Point Philippines, San Diego,
Washington State, and Pensacola. Their children, Carolyn and Mike, traveled alongside them on these journeys, becoming a source of deep joy and pride. In her later years, Carolyn and Mike lovingly returned that devotion, surrounding her with care, comfort, and unwavering support until her final days. Through each chapter, she remained a constant source of support, strength, and grace. Above all, she cherished being “Nannie.” She was known as Nannie Catherine to a host of children throughout her life. She poured her heart into her role as grandmother to three granddaughters and was utterly smitten by her five great-grandchildren, who brought her endless pride and joy. She also held dear the many lives she touched as a sister, daughter, wife, and treasured friend. Nannie Catherine will forever be remembered for her giving heart, nurturing spirit, and the beauty she brought into the world.
