Tennessee Prepares Major Traffic Operation for Bonnaroo Music Festival

Manchester, Tennessee — State transportation officials are implementing a comprehensive traffic management strategy this week as tens of thousands of music fans descend on Coffee County for the annual Bonnaroo Music and Arts Festival.

The Tennessee Highway Patrol announced plans to selectively restrict access to three Interstate 24 exits serving the Manchester area during peak festival periods. The coordinated effort involves closing exits 111, 114, and 117 on a rotating basis to prevent gridlock on local roads leading to the festival site.

Highway Patrol officials said they will funnel traffic through one primary access point and open additional exits when volume demands it.

Preparation Recommendations

Transportation officials advise festival-goers to build extra travel time into their plans and remain flexible with routing decisions. Drivers should follow posted signage and comply with directions from law enforcement personnel managing traffic flow.

The temporary access restrictions represent an extensive traffic management operation for the festival, designed to address congestion in the Manchester area.

Transportation officials expect heavy traffic volumes during the festival period as attendees arrive and depart.
