Over 55 Pounds of Drugs Collected: Prevention Coalition Hosts Drug Take-Back Day

Over 55 pounds of unused or unwanted drugs were collected this past weekend as The Franklin County Prevention Coalition, along with the Franklin County Sherrif’s Office and in conjunction with the Drug Enforcement Agency, hosted a Drug Take-Back Day at the Franklin County Farmer’s Market.

From 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, Franklin County residents had the opportunity to drop off any and all unused, unwanted, or expired prescription medications for proper disposal.

The drug take-back is sponsored by the DEA and happens twice a year.  Currently, there is a drop-off box located at all of the police departments in Franklin County.  Residents are encouraged to dispose of any unwanted or unused drugs by simply walking into the police department and dropping them off at any time.
