Franklin and surrounding counties may become the hottest new place for country music radio as they bring Tims Ford Country to life in a world where legends and outlaws come together.
Falling under the distribution umbrella of WCDT, and partnering with ESPN Radio Winchester and 931go.com, Tims Ford Country will be delivered digitally by streaming online, through the app, or by using Alexa. And the station will also be the official sound of Downtown Winchester, as it will be played throughout the speakers on the square.
Playing all the hits, from the modern bad boys of country to the classic icons, the station will be providing all the favorites from old to new. Listeners can expect to hear music from artists like Tyler Childers, Cody Jinx, and Whiskey Myers, along with some of the greats like Willie, Waylon, and Merle.
Local and regional artists will also have the opportunity to submit music for playlist rotation.
Owner of ESPN Radio Winchester Joe Abraham showed excitement for the launch, stating that the community has already showed enthusiasm since the news was released just a few days ago.
“We want to do it for the overall heritage.”, said Abraham. “And it’s what the region wants is a country station. But there are so many country stations in the area that we wanted this to be something different. And a lot of the music that we are going to be playing is the stuff that Nashville and the other stations won’t play.”
The goal is to officially launch the station by Memorial Day, just in time for summer and the upcoming lake season. It will still offer local news, local weather, and other local elements, but the music will be almost commercial free. The only ads that will run will be from the hourly sponsors, who are credited at the top of each hour, making it more music and less commercials.
“Obviously sports are not for everyone. And what we do is not for everyone.”, stated Abraham. “We hope this will kind of fill that gap for local listeners, so to speak.”
