Maria Elena Jackson passed peacefully at her home in the Broadview Community on December 11, 2025, at the age of 80 surrounded by her loving family, after a prolonged battle with liver disease. She was the youngest child of Jim Reynolds and Mauela Serna of Alice, Texas. Maria is survived by her husband of fifty-nine years, Ralph Jackson; three children, Melissa Jackson, Steve Jackson, and Brian Jackson; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her seven siblings. Born in Alice, Texas on November 12, 1945, she graduated from Alice High School in 1964. After high school, she attended Cameron College in Lawton, Oklahoma. At college, she would meet her future husband that was going into the Army before her completion of college. During their time in the Army, she was a mother and a homemaker, traveling to many places. After his retirement from the Army, she attended Middle Tennessee State University completing her degree in Spanish. She then went on to teach Spanish at Hazel Green High School in Hazel Green, Alabama until her retirement. Maria would live out the rest of her active life in the Broadview Community. She was an active member of the Lexie Church of Christ and loved the Lord and her church family. She loved walking in Tims Ford Park and the beauty, peace and quiet of where she lived. Her kind heart and loving nature allowed her to always help others in their times of need. Maria was a loving wife, a wonderful mother, and a spoiling grandmother, cherishing the time spent with her beloved family, especially her grandchildren. Visitation will be from 5-8pm on Monday, December 15, 2025, at Moore-Cortner Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held at 1:00pm on Tuesday, December 16, 2025, in the Chapel of Moore-Cortner Funeral Home with Bro. Carl Brown officiating. Interment will follow at Franklin Memorial Gardens with family and friends serving as pallbearers.
