James (Jim) Reynolds Gattis


June 24, 1947  -  January 7, 2026

James (Jim) Reynolds Gattis passed away on Wednesday, January 7, 2026, at his home in Soddy Daisy, Tennessee, with his wife, Donna, by his side. Jim was born on June 24, 1947, in Winchester to the late Frank and Nell (Dickerson) Gattis. He was a member of the Church of Christ in Middle Valley.

Jim retired from the Hamilton County Assessor of Property’s Office with over thirty-nine years of service. He was the Director of Commercial Property when he retired. A graduate of Franklin County High School, he served in the United States Army and was a Vietnam Veteran.

Left to cherish his memories are his wife of fifty-two years, Donna Gattis, who was the love of his life; God-daughter, Mandi Pittenger of Florida; God-son, Beau Pittenger of Tennessee; brother, Charles Gattis of Jasper; very special friend whom he loved dearly, Lynda Smith of Jasper; nieces, Kathy (Ken) Jacobsen of Murfreesboro, Brenda Gattis of Murfreesboro, and Susan Johnson of Tracy City; great-nephew, Cole Johnson of Knoxville; and great-niece, Courtney Johnson of Knoxville; furry companion, Chewy.

Visitation will be from 5-8pm on Friday, January 9, 2026, at Watson Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held at 1:00pm on Saturday, January 10, 2026, in the Roy B. Watson Chapel of Watson Funeral Home with Ben Watson officiating. Interment will follow at Watson Memorial Park. Cole Johnson, Sonny Gattis, Ken Jacobsen, Tyler Henley, Mike Painter, and Sterling Hubbard to serve as pallbearers.
