Franklin County High School Names Charles Reid as Head Football Coach

FRANKLIN COUNTY, TN - Franklin County High School has announced the hiring of Charles “Chuck” Reid as the new head coach of the Rebels football program. School officials confirmed the decision following an extensive search process that reviewed more than 40 applicants.

The football search committee included school administrators, Athletic Directors Kelly Kennedy and Kent Bean, and central office personnel. After two rounds of interviews, Reid emerged as the unanimous selection, according to the school.

Reid brings more than 35 years of experience as a teacher and football coach, including 18 years as a head coach. Most recently, he coached in Plano, Texas, and has previous experience at schools throughout New England as well as Brentwood Academy and Franklin Road Academy in Middle Tennessee. Throughout his career, Reid has served as an offensive, defensive, and special teams coordinator and is credited with rebuilding struggling programs.

School leaders say Reid’s philosophy emphasizes discipline, fundamentals, and character development. During interviews, he presented both short-term and long-term plans not only for players, but also for parents, boosters, administrators, and the broader community.

In a statement, Reid thanked Dr. Carey Holman, the Franklin County Board of Education, district leadership, and the search committee for the opportunity. He said his priorities for the program will be “faith, family, academics, and football,” adding that accountability, integrity, and teamwork will be core values of the program.

Interim Principal Brittney Butner said Reid’s emphasis on discipline and integrity stood out early in the process and aligns with building a positive culture at FCHS.

While an exact start date has not been finalized, officials expect Reid to begin in late January or early February. A press conference, media interviews, and a community meet-and-greet are tentatively planned for the week of January 19.
