Walk-Off Heartbreaker: Tullahoma Stuns Franklin County in Final Inning Drama

TULLAHOMA, Tenn. — A tight, tense District showdown came down to one swing—and it belonged to Tullahoma’s Ellie Simpson.

With two outs in the bottom of the seventh and the score knotted at 2, Simpson laced a walk-off single up the middle, capping a late Lady Wildcats rally and dealing the Franklin County Rebelettes a heartbreaking 3-2 loss Tuesday night.

It was a pitcher’s duel from the start. Tullahoma’s Amaya Sharp was steady in the circle, allowing just five hits and two runs while fanning five across a complete-game effort. Franklin County’s Dalayna Marshall kept her team in it with grit, working 6.1 innings and giving up just one earned run despite some defensive miscues behind her.

Tullahoma struck first in the opening frame, taking a 1-0 lead on a groundout RBI from Aleigha Raby. But Franklin County punched back in the third when Mollye Casey launched a no-doubter to straightaway center to tie it 1-1.

The Rebelettes kept the pressure on in the fifth, as Kaylee Morris delivered a go-ahead RBI single to give Franklin County a 2-1 edge. But they couldn’t hold it.

With the Lady Wildcats down to their final three outs, aggressive baserunning and a costly Franklin County error set the stage for Simpson’s clutch heroics. Her game-winning single sent the Tullahoma dugout into a frenzy and the Lady Wildcats into the next round of the District 8AAA Tournament.

Madison Goad sparked the Tullahoma offense, going 2-for-2 with two steals and locking down the defense as part of a flawless fielding night for the Lady Wildcats. Meanwhile, Franklin County was led by Morris and Casey, who each drove in a run, and saw hits scattered across the lineup.

With the loss the Franklin County Rebelettes now moves to the losers bracket of the Distict 8AAA Tournament.
