Tullahoma High School is celebrating a remarkable academic milestone after three of its students earned perfect scores on the ACT—a feat achieved by less than one-quarter of 1 percent of test takers nationwide.
Seniors Seth Vaughn and Kayleigh Williams, along with junior Sadler Duncan, each scored a 36—the highest possible composite score on the ACT.
“Less than a quarter of 1 percent of students who take the ACT receive a perfect score, and to have three in our district is absolutely incredible,” said Dr. Catherine Stephens, Director of Schools for Tullahoma City Schools. “This achievement speaks highly of these three students and shows how dedicated they are to their studies. It also further highlights the incredible educators that we have inside our district, inspiring students to excel. Congratulations to Seth, Kayleigh, and Sadler on this amazing honor.”
Nationally, just 3,041 students out of 1.37 million in the graduating class of 2024 earned a perfect ACT score, according to ACT data. The rarity of such an accomplishment is not lost on Tullahoma High School Principal Dr. Greg English.
“Having even one student earn a perfect score on the ACT is a rare and outstanding achievement,” said Dr. English. “To have three in a single year is extraordinary. These students represent the very best of our school and have curious minds, demonstrate hard work, and a commitment to excellence. We are incredibly proud of them and grateful to the teachers and families who have supported their journey.”
The ACT exam measures a student’s readiness for college-level coursework, with individual tests in English, mathematics, reading, and science. The composite score is the average of these four sections, each scored on a scale of 1 to 36. The optional writing portion is scored separately.
“When a student earns a top score of 36 on the ACT test, it opens doors to a promising future, demonstrating for colleges and universities that they are ready for the challenges ahead,” said ACT CEO Janet Godwin. “This remarkable achievement is something we celebrate along with the student and their family.”
ACT scores are accepted by all major four-year colleges and universities across the United States. They play a significant role in college admissions, scholarship opportunities, and placement decisions.
For Tullahoma High School, this achievement not only marks a high point for individual excellence but also underscores the strength of its academic environment. It’s a moment of pride for the entire community.
