Tammy Sue Betts (Smead), born on September 8, 1957, in Elkhart, Indiana, passed away on May 1, 2025, in Tullahoma, Tennessee.

Tammy was the daughter of the late DeWayne and Hazel Smead (Rummel). She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Arden Fredrick Betts, who passed in 2008.

She is lovingly remembered by her three children: James (Tonya) Richardson of South Bend, Indiana; Carl (Tina) Richardson of Fairbanks, Alaska; and Andrea (Jason) Carter of Elkhart, Indiana. Tammy was a proud grandmother to twelve grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. She is also survived by four siblings: Donna Joans of Sturgis, Michigan; Penny Coberly of Tullahoma, Tennessee; Chris Brubaker of Texas; and Daniel (Glenda) Smead of Elkhart, Indiana. She was preceded in death by two siblings, Mike Smead and Marla Smead.

Tammy found joy in life’s simple pleasures. She had a deep love for music, especially the sounds of Pink Floyd and Metallica, and often surrounded herself with melodies that brought her peace and happiness. A passionate photographer at heart, she delighted in capturing the beauty of flowers and nature through her lens. Above all else, Tammy cherished time spent with her family; it was her greatest source of joy and fulfillment.
