COFFEE COUNTY, Tenn. — A Summitville Volunteer Fire Department fire truck was involved in a two-vehicle accident Thursday afternoon on Ragsdale Road, prompting a major emergency response and leaving hundreds of residents without power. The Coffee County Sheriff’s Department (CCSD) confirmed the crash occurred on November 20, 2025, and that all individuals involved were transported to the hospital for evaluation.

According to CCSD, the circumstances leading to the collision remain under investigation, but officials said no fatalities were immediately reported. The accident triggered additional complications when the fire truck struck and came to rest against a Duck River Electric Membership Corporation (DREMC) utility pole.

DREMC reported that the impact snapped or severely damaged the pole, resulting in a power outage affecting approximately 230 members in the surrounding area. Crews were dispatched immediately to assess the damage, secure the site, and begin repairs.

DREMC praised the teamwork among agencies on scene, noting that first responders, Duck River crews, and multiple rescue teams worked together to manage medical care, traffic control, debris cleanup, and power restoration. Utility officials said their priority was ensuring the area was safe before replacing equipment and restoring electricity to affected homes and businesses.

Authorities urged motorists to use caution and avoid the area while crews continue work. Additional information regarding the condition of those transported to the hospital has not yet been released.

The Coffee County Sheriff’s Department said updates will be provided as the investigation continues.
