The St. Andrew’s-Sewanee middle school track team lit up the track at the Red Bank Rumble on Tuesday, April 9, setting three new school records and racking up a slew of personal bests.

Eighth graders Savannah Blosser and Ashur Kavur led the charge. Savannah blazed through the girls’ 400m in 1:07.57, setting a new SAS middle school record. Ashur followed with a record-setting performance of his own, clocking 2:26.99 in the boys’ 800m.

The momentum didn’t stop there—Savannah teamed up with Arabella Barry (6th grade), Nora Jane Elrod (7th grade), and Elena Brodsky (7th grade) in the girls’ 4x200m relay, crushing the previous school record by over 3 seconds with a time of 2:05.56.

The meet was also a personal best bonanza. Louis Borchers (6th grade) shaved an incredible 18 seconds off his 1600m time and set a new PR in the 800m. RH Benton, Savannah Blosser, and Nora Jane Elrod all hit new PRs in the 200m. In the 400m, Arabella Barry, Nora Jane Elrod, and Ashur Kavur each turned in their fastest times yet.  Alex Glacet and Fletcher Keener were just tenths of a second off from setting new PRs too.

“It was a fun night”, commented Coach Burns.  “A night full of speed, spirit, and school pride.  I am so proud of all the hard work each of our athletes display daily.  Their attitude and determination are incredible.”

The team has their last meet of the season at home on Friday, April 25th.  Come out and catch the team in action!
