Rebecca Sue Thomas

May 25, 1955 - June 29, 2025

As a rainbow appeared over Lynchburg, TN on Sunday morning, June 29, 2025, Rebecca Sue (Hargett) Thomas, age 70, passed peacefully into eternity. It was the ultimate “peace out” from Becky!

Becky was resilient in childhood while enduring many hardships. She cherished her time with older relatives and was thankful they pointed her to Jesus.

Becky moved to Huntsville, AL as a teenager in the 70’s with her beloved sister and brother-in-law, Karen and Charlie McCaslin. Soon after, her bad boy, Larry Thomas, rode up on his Harley and stole her heart. They lived in the back of a Harley shop. They lived large until adventures brought them across state lines to the Lynchburg area. The two were inseparable for 54 years. They were partners in everything, from love to business, to making babies, having 3 children, Sandy, Carl, and Keri.

She was not a traditional grandmother in her hippie ways, but loved to tell you about her grandkids, Logan, Spencer, Liza, and Emmy. She was always up for a good time with her wide varied circle of friends. Her and Larry hosted friends from all over the world who shared their enthusiasm for collecting and sometimes consuming Jack Daniels. Becky was a proud member of the Tennessee Squires, a teacher at Motlow College and she also owned an antique store on Lynchburg square.

She loved all her four-legged friends through the years and her current fur babies, Gremlin and Pappy. They are missing her already. She loved and supported the work of “Friends of Animal Reserve and Adoption Center” in Lynchburg. In her honor, please give them a like and a share, or even donate to this worthy cause. In her last days, she had started the process of adopting an orange kitten that needed a home.

Becky’s passing leaves a huge hole in our world on this earth, but she assured us she would have peace on the other side.

The family will hold an informal visitation, Thursday, July 3, 2025, from 3:00pm until 6:00pm, at the Lynchburg Funeral Home chapel.

Lynchburg Funeral home is honored to serve the Thomas family during this difficult time.
