July 17, 1946  -  April 8, 2025

June 17, 1939 - May 31, 2025

Joy "Elaine" Loftis Rich, 85, passed away peacefully at her daughter's home in Huntsville, Al and had been living there since 2021. She preferred to be called Elaine instead of Joy.

Elaine was a native of Winchester, Tn and a former member of the Winchester Church of Christ.

After graduating from Franklin County High school 1957, Elaine attended David Lipscomb College and Peabody College. She was going to school to be a teacher but had her sights set on brighter lights in the big city. Miss Elaine Loftis was the Coronation Queen in 1960 at Peabody College. She worked two years in New York for Famous Music, a subsidiary of Paramount Pictures. She was associated with RCA Publishing Co. and Music City Recorders in Nashville, working primarily in publishing and booking studio musicians.

Before getting into the music industry, Elaine was a fashion model and taught fashion modeling at Jo Susan's Modeling School. She came back to Winchester, Tn to be a caregiver for her mother with Alzhimer's who passed away 1992, but also a caregiver to others as well; and to give her child a better life away from the music industry. She was known for her grace, beauty, style and personality. She always wanted to be dressed up with matching clothing, shoes, purse, head band, jewelry, and all the accessories, no matter where she was going.

Elaine was a loving mother, big animal lover, enjoyed going shopping, and drinking her iced coffee from Starbucks.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James Q. "Spider" Rich, musician known for "Yakety Sax"; father, Lewis Clay Loftis, who had Jenkins & Darwin Bros; mother, Pearl Darwin Sadler Loftis; and brother, Lewis Sadler Loftis.

She is survived by her daughter Susan McCulloch Bramlett; son-in-law Allan Bramlett; granddaughter, Alexandria Bramlett; nephew, Mark Loftis; his wife Gwyn Loftis; their three children, Chris, Chad and Rebecca; and niece Joy Loftis.
