Jimmy L. McClain, age 87, of Winchester, passed away on Wednesday, May 6, 2025, at his residence surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Memphis, Tennessee, on September 3, 1937, to the late Leonard and Musette (Thompson) McClain. Jimmy had a passion for fishing and extended it to sharing his expertise as a guide. He spent countless hours on the water, not only pursuing his own catches but also helping others experience the thrill of the sport. He was a retired officer from the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency, where he spent twenty-four years. A complex and organized individual, Jimmy was a passionate outdoorsman who found joy in fishing, hunting, and simply being in nature. He was also an avid reader. Jimmy was a dedicated member of the Winchester Church of Christ. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his first wife, Margaret McClain; sister, Rena Pederson; brothers-in-law, Ray Pederson and Chuck Comeaux. He is survived by his loving wife of three and half years, Betty Stewart McClain; children, Tina (Charlie) Smith, Janet (Terry) Pack, Jimmy “Darrell” (Christie) McClain, and Clark (Carrie) McClain; sister, Gail Comeaux; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends. A visitation will be held on Friday, May 9, 2025, at Watson Funeral Home from 12:00 PM until 3:00 PM. Funeral services will immediately follow in the Roy B. Watson Chapel of Watson Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Watson Memorial Park. The family extends their sincere gratitude to the compassionate team at Compassus Hospice for their exceptional care and support during Jimmy's final days.
