Janice Carol Butner, age 74 of Decherd, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, June 13, 2025. She was born in Coffee County on December 18, 1950, to the late Oscar Douglas and Doris Jean (Wooten) Butner. Janice retired from the University of Kentucky after a professional career in administration. She was a devoted member of Trinity Episcopal Church in Winchester, where she was active in community service, especially the church food pantry and currently serving as Senior Warden. In her leisure time, she enjoyed gardening, reading, and knitting. An avid traveler, she had been many places, Ireland being her favorite. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Ernest Douglas Butner. Janice is survived by her loving children, Valorie Curtis, and Jason Wofford; granddaughter, Courtney Martin; and great-grandchild, Collier Quick. Visitation will be held on Saturday, June 21, 2025, from 10:00am – 11:00am in the Parish Hall of Trinity Episcopal Church. The Burial Liturgy following at 11:00am in the sanctuary of Trinity Episcopal Church. A reception will immediately take place after the service and burial will follow the reception at Monteagle Cemetery.
