On a night dedicated to honoring their seniors, the Franklin County Rebels delivered a gritty 2-1 win over Lawrence County in a game highlighted by strong pitching and sharp defense.
The Rebels got on the scoreboard early in the bottom of the first inning. Casen Gilliam brought in the first run with a sacrifice fly, and Connor Parker followed with a line drive down the left field line to score another.
Senior Gus Gardner shined on the mound in his final regular-season home appearance, tossing a complete game. He allowed just one run on seven hits, struck out six, and walked two—securing the win and capping off his senior night in style. Lawrence County’s Truitt Kidd pitched well in response, giving up two runs (one earned) over six innings, while striking out five and walking none.
Franklin County got hits from Ayden Hodosi, Sam Vincent, Gavin McBee, and Parker. Gilliam and Parker each drove in a run and proved to be a tough back-to-back pair in the lineup. The Rebels were solid defensively, not committing a single error. Gilliam had the most fielding opportunities, handling nine chances cleanly.
Jack Emerson and Alex Bedford led the way offensively for Lawrence County with two hits each. Emerson also brought in the team's lone run, while Bedford swiped two bases. Lawrence County matched the Rebels defensively, also finishing error-free, with Emerson recording five chances in the field.
With the win on Senior Night, the Rebels now turn their focus to Thursday’s road matchup against Shelbyville Central.
