Franklin County is embracing the spirit of the holiday season with a wide slate of community events, food drives, and special celebrations aimed at supporting families, honoring local heroes, and bringing residents together.

The Franklin County Prevention Coalition has kicked off its Holiday Food Drive, collecting meal items for the Campora Family Resource Center now through December 10. Donations can be dropped off at the coalition office at 900 South Shepherd Street in Winchester. Additional food collections are underway at FirstBank in Decherd and through the Decherd Food Outreach Program, with distribution days set throughout November at Decherd First Baptist Church.
Local nonprofit 931Cares will again host its Annual Thanksgiving Meal on November 27 at Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Winchester, offering dine-in or delivered meals to anyone in need. Organizers say the effort continues to grow each year as more residents join in serving the community.

The Franklin County Sheriff’s Office is also inviting residents to participate in the Adopt-A-Cop initiative. Supporters can “adopt” a deputy or staff member by providing a small gift or handwritten note to show appreciation during the holidays.

Families can look forward to several festive events, including Breakfast with Santa, featuring crafts, photos, and a full pancake breakfast, as well as the highly anticipated Community Tree Lighting in downtown Winchester on November 28. This year’s ceremony will feature a performance by Franklin County’s own HunterGirl, with a special meet-and-greet for past and present military members.

With multiple food drives, charitable programs, and family-centered celebrations, officials say the goal is simple: to ensure every household feels supported and included throughout the season.
