WINCHESTER, TN – The Franklin County Rebels struggled to generate offense on Monday night, falling 4-0 to Tullahoma as Wildcats pitcher Baylan Tuten threw a no-hitter. Tuten was dominant on the mound, striking out 13 batters and allowing just two walks over seven innings in a complete-game shutout.
Tullahoma jumped ahead early, scoring two runs in the first inning off a single by Andrew Fulmer. The Wildcats added two more runs later in the game, with Hunter Hogan and Fulmer each driving in a pair of RBIs. Franklin County’s defense worked to limit further damage, but Tullahoma’s offense was efficient, collecting seven hits on the night.
Franklin County starting pitcher Samuel Vincent turned in a strong effort despite the loss, keeping his team in the game with five and two-thirds innings of work. He allowed four runs (three earned) on seven hits while striking out three and walking three. The Rebels’ defense made key plays behind him, but the lack of offensive production proved too much to overcome against Tuten’s standout performance.
The Rebels will look to bounce back quickly, as they get a second shot at Tullahoma in a rematch on Tuesday. With lessons learned from Monday’s contest, Franklin County will aim to make adjustments at the plate and break through against the Wildcats' pitching. You can hear that game on ESPN Radio Winchester with Lucky Knott and Clay Turner on the call.
