On Wednesday, January 22, 2025, Decherd K-9 Sergeant Marion and his dog conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle for a light law violation just after 3 AM.
Upon approaching the vehicle, Sgt. Marion smelled alcohol coming from the driver, Marty Quade Schild of Winchester. Sgt. Marion also observed a baggie with white powder residue sticking out of Schild’s’ pocket.

Sgt. Marion detained the man to investigate further. Sgt. Marion searched Schild’s vehicle and located two more baggies containing white powder similar to the one from his pocket. A field test was conducted on the powder, which indicated a positive result for fentanyl. The total weight of recovered suspected fentanyl was approximately 1.1 grams.
Schild was unable to perform field sobriety tests, and he was arrested for driving under the influence and manufacture/sale/delivery of Schedule II drugs (fentanyl).
Tests will be conducted at the TBI laboratory to confirm the field test results. As always, all subjects are considered innocent until proven guilty.
