David “Chief” W Pendergraff, age 60 of Estill Springs, passed away on Tuesday, October 14, 2025, peacefully at his residence. He was born in Grosse Point, Michigan on July 23, 1965, to the late John William and Nancy Mae (Teters) Pendergraff. A hard worker, David was currently working as lead supervisor at Batesville Casket Company, where he has been a dedicated employee for over forty years. He was formerly the Fire Chief for the Estill Springs Fire Department, serving the department and community for forty years. He enjoyed roller skating and bowling, cheering for the Atlanta Braves, and working on odd and end projects. He also enjoyed traveling to Myrtle Beach and Gatlinburg. David had a generous and kind heart, offering help to anyone in need. He attended Estill Springs Nazarene Church. In addition to his parents, David was preceded in death by his father and mother-in-law, Lynn and Velita Carroll; and brothers, John Gary Pendergraff and Tommy Pendergraff. He is survived by his loving wife of forty years, Debbie Carroll Pendergraff; children, Chris Pruitt and Traci (Thomas) Crummer; grandchildren, Eli Crummer and Owen Crummer; siblings, Shirley Hickertz, Brenda Wells, Ricky (Amanda) Pendergraff, Bruce Pendergraff, Daryl Pendergraff, and Cathy (Gary) Frame; sister and brother-in-law, Margaret (John) Piper and Robert (Cyndy) Carroll; and many nieces, nephews, and other relatives. Visitation will be from 5:00-8:00 pm on Friday, October 17, 2025, at Estill Springs Nazarene Church. Funeral Services will be held at 3:00 pm on Saturday, October 18, 2025, at Estill Springs Nazarene Church with Pastor Thomas Crummer officiating. Interment will follow at Estill Springs Cemetery with Joe Gamble, Christian Steele, Kaleb Tyree, David Barnes, Jimmy Weddington, and Aaron Lowhorn serving as pallbearers. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to the Estill Springs Nazarene Church Building Fund or The Table Nazarene Building Fund.
