Bettye Joyce Soloman Gamble, age 85 of Belvidere, TN was called home to be with her Lord and Savior on Easter Morning, April 20, 2025, at her residence with her loving family at her side. Mrs. Gamble was born in the Lexie Crossroads community on Feb 9, 1940, to the late James Soloman and Bessie Brazier Soloman. She was a member of Hickory Grove Baptist Church in the Hickory Grove community, where she was the church pianist for approximately 40 years. Bettye also taught Sunday School, VBS, and was a youth leader when her children were young. She was a graduate of Huntland High School. Mrs. Gamble was a stay at home, mother most of the years while her children were in school. Bettye was the bookkeeper for her husband's construction company, J.W. Gamble & Son, and was hired by Watson-Gamble Funeral Home as the Office Administrator when her youngest son, Jeffrey, purchased it in 1981. She also worked at Lynchburg Funeral Home from 1991 until she retired in 2020, during the pandemic. Mrs. Gamble was a very talented seamstress and cook. She cooked Sunday lunch for many years for her children, grandchildren, and friends and for the past several years she cooked meals for the field trials at the Breezy Knoll Farm in Belvidere. She enjoyed cake decorating, baking birthday cakes for her grandchildren, wedding cakes and working in her flowers. Bettye enjoyed her retirement and traveling. Most of all, she will be remembered as a loving and supportive mother, grandmother and great-grandmother that will continue to be loved and cherished in their hearts. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Kent Roger Gamble, eleven siblings, and great granddaughter Ruby Grace Gamble.
She is survived by her children: Ricky Gamble and wife, Tammy, Pamela Grant and husband, Glen, Jeffrey Gamble and wife, Sheri all of Belvidere. Grandchildren: Adam Gamble of Murfreesboro, Rachel Crossland and husband, Travis of Belvidere, Wesley Gamble and fiancé, Gwendolyn Zimmerman of Winchester, Whitney Taylor and husband, Willie of Morrison. Great-grandchildren: Chloe Crossland, Matthew Gamble, Maddelyn Taylor and step great-grandchild Katie Gipson, "Loved Like" grandchildren, Evan Hill and Anna Williams. Along with several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Visitation will be held from 5-8pm Tuesday, April 22, 2025, at Hickory Grove Baptist Church in Huntland.
Services will be conducted at 2:00pm Wednesday, April 23, 2025, at Hickory Grove Baptist Church, Huntland, with Dr. Bob Hill, officiating.
Interment will follow at Mt. Carmel Cemetery in Huntland with Lance Williams, Billy Stewart, Darrell Soloman, Adam Gamble, Wesley Gamble and Travis Crossland serving as Pallbearers.
The family would like to give her caregivers a special thank you hug for the wonderful care she received during her brief illness.
