The Franklin County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the theft of a utility trailer reported earlier this month in the Monroe Floyd Road area.
According to the Sheriff’s Office, a 5-foot by 8-foot mesh utility trailer equipped with a loading ramp was stolen on January 14. Investigators say the trailer was taken from the Monroe Floyd Road vicinity, and officials are asking the public for assistance in identifying those responsible.
The stolen trailer has several distinguishing characteristics that may help residents recognize it. In addition to its mesh sides and rear ramp, authorities noted that the trailer now has a broken passenger-side taillight, which could make it more noticeable if seen being transported or parked elsewhere.
Law enforcement officials say stolen trailers are often quickly moved or repainted, but in many cases, tips from the public have proven critical in recovering stolen property. Residents are encouraged to be alert for trailers matching the description, particularly if seen in unusual locations or being offered for sale.
The Sheriff’s Office is asking anyone who may have witnessed suspicious activity in the Monroe Floyd Road area around the time of the theft, or who may have information about the trailer’s whereabouts, to come forward. Tips can be directed to Investigator Shawn Malhoit at 931-308-9423 or to Franklin County dispatch at 931-967-2331.
Those wishing to provide information may also contact the Sheriff’s Office directly through Facebook Messenger. Officials emphasized that anonymous tips are welcome, and callers are not required to identify themselves.
Authorities also encouraged community members to share information about the theft, noting that increased awareness can help lead to quicker recovery of stolen property and accountability for those involved.
The Franklin County Sheriff’s Office thanked the public for its continued cooperation and support, stating that community involvement remains a vital part of solving property crimes across the county.
