William Moody Downs of Tullahoma, Tennessee passed from this life on Saturday, June 14, 2025, at his residence at the age of 84 years. A native of Shelbyville, Tennessee, he is the son of the late William Harold and Callie Lavinia Thompson Downs. Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by brothers, Johnny and Bobby Downs and one sister, Jane Nowlin.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, June 18, 2025, at 1:00 PM from the chapel of Daves-Culbertson Funeral Home in Tullahoma, Tennessee. Entombment will immediately follow at Rosehill Memorial Garden in Tullahoma. Friends may visit with the family at the funeral home on Tuesday, June 17, 2025, from 5:00 to 8:00 PM.

Billy was born on October 22, 1940, in Shelbyville, Tennessee. He was a high school graduate and later joined the United States Army. He married Margaret Bennett Downs, and they have shared a wonderful life together. Billy played sports in high school and grew to be an Avid Alabama football fan. He retired from American Can in Shelbyville, Tennessee. Billy loved old westerns and traveling with his wife. He was a great family man and enjoyed spending time with his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was the grandfather who took his grandchildren fishing and always took them to breakfast before daycare. These special moments with his family will be cherished for years to come. Aside from his love for his family, he truly loved God. He spent many years teaching Sunday School and Vacation Bible School. Anything he could do in the service of the Lord; he was happy to do.

His survivors include his wife of 50 years, Margaret Downs of Tullahoma, Tennessee, daughter, Rhonda (Ricky) Robertson of Tullahoma, Tennessee, grandchildren, Josh McKinney and Jasmine McKinney both of Tullahoma Tennessee, and great grandchildren, Abby, Kaylee, Zachary, Hudson and Jayden McKinney.
