Local Athletes Recognized for Success in Classroom

The Tennessee Secondary School Athletic Association (TSSAA) has recently acknowledged the academic accomplishments of fall student-athletes.
Athletes who maintain a GPA of 3.5 or higher are honored with the Award of Merit. In addition, teams with outstanding collective academic performance are recognized, and all of Franklin County High School’s fall sports teams received accolades in both categories.
Recognition for winter and spring athletes will take place after the conclusion of the current school year.
Among those receiving the Award of Merit for the FCHS Rebelette Volleyball team are Kenzie Arnold, Ann Abbot Devine, Madyson Dutz, Pailyn Edge, Jazrea Fells, Vicky Guess, Clara Guess, Natahlia Hayes, Khiya Porter, Jessie Schnarr, Hayleigh Troupe, Ava Walker, Brianna Wilkinson, Shana Wilkinson, and Ava Yates. Additionally, the volleyball team was awarded the Distinguished Scholastic Achievement Award, with an average GPA of 3.45.
Award of Merit recipients from the FCHS football team include Thomas “Leo” Anderson, Loui Arellano, Gary Argo, Robert Argo, Mason Baggett, JT Baxter, Timothy Bowhey, Weber Bradford, Shawn Brockman, Alfonso Cabrera, Lewis Day, William Edwards, Bradley Esparza, Benton Hill, Jacob Hohensee, Christian Ingle, Lamonte Johnson, Maceo Jones, Eli Kelleher, James Colson Kelley, Bradley Leech, Tom Louis, Isaac Lyle, Austin Meaker, Brylon Mitchell, Garrison Orr, Edward Phrommala, Brandon Sells, and Cooper Stevens. The football team earned the Outstanding Scholastic Achievement Award with a group GPA of 3.21.
From the FCHS girls soccer team, the Award of Merit was presented to Calli Alonso, Gracen Baggett, Cali Banks, Mollye Casey, Ella Gebelt, Valeria Gomez, Kennedy Hall, Riley Howell, Keira McFarlane, Madi Morris, Savannah Parkerson, Baylor Russell, Alli Smith, Aubrey Smith, Carly Smith, and Audrey Stewart. The girls soccer team was also honored with the Distinguished Scholastic Achievement Award, maintaining a team GPA of 3.79.
The FCHS dance team’s Award of Merit recipients are Skyler Long and Adison Geer. The dance team earned the Outstanding Scholastic Achievement Award with an average GPA of 3.19.
Award of Merit honorees from the FCHS cheerleading team include Macy Boswell, Gracen Kelley, Gracie Short, Jada Hand, Jena Hand, Belle Sulouff, Kalynn Parsons, Keira McFarlane, Rosalynn Sheets, Brylie Morton, Elizabeth Tapp, Shelby Walker, Abigail Smith, Ruby Metcalf, Whitney Sons, and Anna Swafford. The cheerleading team received the Distinguished Scholastic Achievement Award, with a collective GPA of 3.95.
For the FCHS golf team, the following athletes received the Award of Merit: Brady Hall, Caleb Luong, Garrett Patterson, and Easton Walker. The golf team also received the Distinguished Scholastic Achievement Award with an impressive GPA of 3.49.
The FCHS boys cross country team’s Award of Merit recipients are Kane Hawkersmith, Austin Heath, William Money, Mason Phillips, Ethan Short, Joshua Smith, and Jayden Smith. The team earned the Distinguished Scholastic Achievement Award with an average GPA of 3.58.
Finally, the FCHS girls cross country team saw the following athletes earn the Award of Merit: Payton Dearing, Jada Hand, Jena Hand, Lily Heath, Catherine Money, Audrey Stewart, Elizabeth Tapp, Addison Taylor, and Ruby Webb. The girls cross country team was awarded the Distinguished Scholastic Achievement Award with a GPA of 3.96.
