Farmers’ Almanac to Publish Final Edition in 2026 After More Than 200 Years

After more than two centuries of publication, the Farmers’ Almanac has announced that its 2026 edition will be its last, bringing an end to one of America’s longest-running annual traditions. The announcement was made in an official statement from the publication’s staff, marking the end of an era for millions of readers who have relied on its weather predictions and practical wisdom since 1818.

“After more than 200 years of sharing a unique blend of weather, wit and wisdom, we’ve made the very difficult decision to write the final chapter of this historical publication,” the statement read. “The 2026 Farmers’ Almanac will be our last edition.”

The publication also confirmed that its website will remain accessible until December 2025. The Farmers’ Almanac, based in Maine and not to be confused with the Old Farmer’s Almanac, became known for its long-range weather forecasts crafted using a secret formula involving sunspots, planetary positions, and lunar cycles. The almanac also included gardening guidance, home remedies, trivia, and other features cherished by generations.

Editor Sandi Duncan shared the emotional impact of the decision, calling the closure a “heavy heart” moment for a publication that has been “an annual tradition in millions of homes and hearths for hundreds of years.”

To avoid confusion, the Old Farmer’s Almanac, headquartered in New Hampshire, issued its own statement assuring readers that its publication remains unchanged. “Rest assured… The Old Farmer’s Almanac… will be around for generations to come,” officials said.

The Farmers’ Almanac expressed deep gratitude to its readers and supporters. “We are incredibly proud of the legacy we leave behind,” staff said. “Though the Almanac will no longer be available in print or online, it lives on within you.”

The final 2026 edition is available through the publication’s website, Amazon, and major retailers.
