July 25, 1937 – January 17, 2026
Dr. Carolyn Rea Stone went to be with the Lord January 17, 2026. She was born July 25, 1937, in Tremont, Mississippi, to Eulus and Seretha Stone. In addition to her parents, Carolyn was preceded in death by her beloved sisters, Kay Yvonne Hill and Wilma Jo Stone, along with her brother, Teddy Wayne Stone; brother- in-law Virgil Thomas Hill and nephew, Michael Hill. Carolyn is survived by her nephew, Marcus Hill, and niece Mary Swann (Steve), along with great nephews, Tyler Swann (Lucy) and Bryant Swann (Emily).
Carolyn enjoyed stories and pictures of her great-great nieces, Harper and Mary and was so proud of the birth of her great-great nephew, Andrew Swann.
Carolyn obtained her Doctorate of Arts and built a successful career teaching at colleges including Blue Mountain, Troy University and Delta State University. Dr. Stone served as a role model for many higher education students as she taught the refinement of artistic skills.
Dr. Stone had an inherent love for aesthetics and pursued her talent for painting. She used her God-given creative ability to capture nature and landscapes in America and abroad. Carolyn’s family will treasure her works of art for generations to come.
Above and beyond Dr. Stone’s accomplished career, her deep and unyielding faith always led her to provide care and compassion for her family. Throughout the ups and downs of life, Carolyn remained a devout believer in her Savior, Jesus, and answered any circumstance with grace and absolute faith in him.
Carolyn’s deep perceptiveness, unique wit, and spiritual leadership will be greatly missed.
